Carbon Mapper at COP26
Published on: Nov 02, 2021
As the COP26 Climate Summit gets underway in Glasgow, Scotland, the Carbon Mapper coalition has a strong on-the-ground presence at this seminal event.
Carbon Mapper CEO Riley Duren will join delegates from RMI, Planet, and others to highlight the important role that airborne and satellite monitoring of carbon dioxide and methane super-emitters plays in generating the powerful data and insights that can inform actions that curb emissions at the speed and scale required to solve the climate crisis.
Here’s a summary of where you can find Carbon Mapper staff and partners at COP26.
The Methane Pavillion
Over the two-week event, Carbon Mapper partners EDF are co-producing the Methane Pavilion with Clean Air Task Force, World Resources Institute, the U.N. Environment Programme and the Climate & Clean Air Coalition. The Methane Pavilion is presenting a clear pathway to the delivery of the Paris Agreement by explaining the crucial role climate forcers like methane play in slowing temperature rise. It will serve as the central hub for our methane education and engagement activities with the international climate community.

Throughout COP26: Visit the Carbon Mapper Data Portal
A key theme at COP26 and beyond is the availability of transparent, real-time data to shape key decisions and inform action. Such is the goal of Carbon Mapper’s data portal which was just re-launched featuring two years of data from Carbon Mapper airborne surveys. Visit the data portal here and see how making methane emissions visible from fossil fuels and the oil and gas sector can yield focused action to mitigate this super pollutant.
