Carbon Mapper CEO Riley Duren will join delegates from RMI, Planet, and others to highlight the important role that airborne and satellite monitoring of carbon dioxide and methane super-emitters plays in generating the powerful data and insights that can inform actions that curb emissions at the speed and scale required to solve the climate crisis.
Here’s a summary of where you can find Carbon Mapper staff and partners at COP26.
The Methane Pavillion
Over the two-week event, Carbon Mapper partners EDF are co-producing the Methane Pavilion with Clean Air Task Force, World Resources Institute, the U.N. Environment Programme and the Climate & Clean Air Coalition. The Methane Pavilion is presenting a clear pathway to the delivery of the Paris Agreement by explaining the crucial role climate forcers like methane play in slowing temperature rise. It will serve as the central hub for our methane education and engagement activities with the international climate community.
RMI Senior Principal Deborah Gordon’s book, No Standard Oil Managing Abundant Petroleum in a Warming World launches from Oxford University Press.
Deborah Gordon will be speaking on the panel Turning Pledges into Action from 4pm-5pm GMT in the Methane Pavilion and live streamed here.
Also, we encourage you to tune in to the Global Methane Pledge announcement, from 1—2 PM GMT at the Methane Pavilion which will be live streamed here.
Deborah Gordon will attend the First Mover’s Coalition Launch Event and a Proposal for a Digital Transformation of Sustainability. Learn more here.
Riley Duren will serve on two panels:
- 1pm-2pm GMT: IG3IS and Carbon Budget – Observations-based approach to support efficient mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions at the IPCC-WMO-UKMO Pavilion and will be live streamed here.
- 3:30pm-4:30pm GMT: Space Race to Save the Climate at the Methane Pavilion which will be live streamed here.

Throughout COP26: Visit the Carbon Mapper Data Portal
A key theme at COP26 and beyond is the availability of transparent, real-time data to shape key decisions and inform action. Such is the goal of Carbon Mapper’s data portal which was just re-launched featuring two years of data from Carbon Mapper airborne surveys. Visit the data portal here and see how making methane emissions visible from fossil fuels and the oil and gas sector can yield focused action to mitigate this super pollutant.
